Subject:  NJROTC TRAPSHOOT FUNDRAISER June 2010

I cannot stress how important this event is for the ability of our unit to operate for the next school year.  We need thirty (30) people total (parents and cadets) each day to make this evolution happen.  It does make for hot long days but the pay off in terms of funding the unit is tremendous, and we need your support.  Please help us out.

The reason why I push this fundraiser so hard is that it is so lucrative that we do not need to conduct many other fundraising events during the academic year (car washes, candy sales, paper/recycle drives, etc) that take up a huge amount of time.  The funds raised enables us to pay for every event (family dinner, drill meets, rifle matches, spring field trips, formal balls, targets rifles and associated equipment, adventure training, leadership academy, etc.) so that there is virtually no “out of pocket” expense for any student.  WE ARE THE ONLY ORGANIZATION HERE AT CENTRAL HIGH SCHOOL THA CAN MAKE THIS CLAIM.

On June we leave the school via school bus at 6 A.M. (because of rush hour traffic in Nashville), and at 7 A.M. on June.  The trap shoot is sponsored by the Tennessee Amateur Trap Shooting Association.  The events are held at the Tennessee Clay Target Complex off County Hospital Road in west Nashville.  Unless we have inclement weather, students are usually returned to Central High School by 5:30 P.M.  (Parents can drive up separately, and/or pick up their student early if need be).  The work consists of loading, targets, scoring shooters, and removing associated trash from the range.  Each worker/student must dress for hot weather to include a good hat, sunglasses, good shoes (flip flops, sandals are not adequate), and sunscreen.  This is safe work and is easy to learn.  We also feed everyone very well.

In order to be fair, for a student to qualify for the spring field trip for example, they and/or their parent must participate in this fundraiser. If you have any questions feel free to contact me.  Mrs. Melissa King, “Sea Lions” President is coordinating sign up for parent help.  She can be contacted at:  madking@bellsouth.net.

Week day departure from the CHS classroom is at 6 A.M., week end departure is at 7 A.M. PROMPTLY.
